Darmasiswa Scholarship is a scholarship program offered by the Indonesian government and regulated by the Ministry of Education and Culture in cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. This scholarship is intended for foreign students who come from countries that have diplomatic relations with Indonesia.
 
In addition to strengthening cultural relations and tolerance between Indonesia and related countries, this scholarship program aims to introduce Indonesian language and culture to young people from all over the world. Therefore, Darmasiswa scholarship recipients will be placed in one of the universities in Indonesia that have been appointed by Kemdikbud to learn Indonesian and / or Indonesian culture such as dance, music, and other artworks.
There are two types of Darmasiswa scholarship schemes:
1. Regular program
This regular program is intended for students from countries that have diplomacy relations with Indonesia to learn Indonesian language and arts (including traditional music, traditional dances, and Indonesian handicrafts). The program lasts for one year, starting in the first week of September and ending in late July of the following year.
2. Short Course Program
This program is intended for students who come from countries that have diplomatic relations with Indonesia to learn Indonesian language in one college in Indonesia. Unlike the regular program, the program lasts six months beginning in the first week of September and ends at the end of January of the following year.
